Weekly News

Hi Friends,
Here’s your weekly news update from The Village Church at Vinings:

-We’ll worship God together in Word and Sacrament this Sunday morning at 10:30 at Teasley Elementary. Jonathan will lead our liturgy, David and Justin will lead us in worship, and Curt will preach from Genesis 37.

-If you’re interested in membership at The Village Church at Vinings, there will be a short informational meeting after the service for the next two Sundays.

-Sunday School for adults and children is at 9:15AM at Teasley. Adults will discuss the 4th chapter of Steve Brown’s book, A Scandalous Freedom. Youth will meet at Panera Bread Co. on Paces Ferry at 9:00.

-This Saturday, October 29th from 5-7pm, we are helping out Pastor Tim Rodgers and New LIfe Covenant Church with their annual Fall Festival for the kids in the English Ave neighborhood. It will be at the English Avenue Community Garden, and the best place to park is at or near Tim’s house at 706 Dalvigney St., Atlanta, GA 30318. There will be “fair” games up and down the block, i.e. – ring toss, bean bag throw, tattoos, face painting, etc. If you plan to help run one of the booths, arrive at 4:45 so you can get situated before kids arrive at 5.
New Life has asked that each family from our church bring ONE of the following
regular-sized bag of candy
fun pencils/erasers
stickers
mini-playdohs
or any other type of small prize
Email Carlyn at carlyn@villagechurchvinings.org if you have any questions.

-Our next 8 at 8 (8 people having dinner together in a home at 8:00PM) will be Friday, November 4th.  If you didn’t get an Evite, then email Jana Adams (janamadams@gmail.com) if you’d like to attend.

Here’s a though for the week:
Has it ever occurred to you that one hundred pianos all tuned to the same fork are automatically tuned to each other? They are of one accord by being tuned, not to each other, but to another standard to which each one must individually bow.

So one hundred worshippers meeting together, each one looking away to Christ, are in heart nearer to each other than they could possibly be were they to become “unity” conscious and turn their eyes away from God to strive for closer fellowship.
-A.W. Tozer-

Grace and Peace,
The VCV team
