Hi Friends,
Here’s your weekly news update from The Village Church at Vinings:
-We’ll worship God together in Word and Sacrament this Sunday, the Second Sunday of Easter, at 10:30AM at Teasley Elementary. Justin and David will lead us in singing, Curt will lead our liturgy and celebrate Communion, and Jonathan will preach from John 20:19-31.
-All Sunday School classes are on this week.
-The Gospel Man Conference (www.thegospelman.com) is Friday, April 27 (7:00-9:30PM) and Saturday, April 28 (8:00AM-1:00PM) at Perimeter Church in John’s Creek. Tullian Tchividjian and Scotty Smith are the speakers. I don’t know of two other men I’d rather sit under in order to soak-up the good news of God’s grace.
Here’s who we have signed-up so far:
Jonathan Adams, Garry Hill, Curt Benham, Jeff Jorgensen, Scott Harty, Rich McCoy, Scott Hampton, Rod Gray, Craig Williams, William Monk, Gorden Fleming, Ryan Jamison, Judd Harper, David Russ, Matt Koehn, Christian Hempell.
If you’re not on this list then we do not have a ticket reserved for you. But fear not! We still have a few left, so contact Jonathan at jonathan@
Also, Matt Koehn’s dad, who lives very close to Perimeter Church, has offered his house for guys who want to spend the night up there. Should be fun! Please let us know if you’d like to spend Friday night there so we can get a count for Matt’s dad.
-Several “villagers” will be going to The Punch Brothers concert on April 21 at Variety Playhouse, and we’d love for you to join us! Tickets here:

Here’s a thought for today:
People usually (always?) come to church as they do to prayer and poetry—through suffering and terror. Need and fear…
The faithless contenders for prayer’s relief who sometimes ask me for help praying (still a comic notion) often say it seems hypocritical to turn to God only now during whatever crisis is forcing them toward it – a kid with leukemia, say, husband lost in the World Trade Center. But no one I know has ever turned to God any other way. As the old adage says, there are no atheists in foxholes. Maybe saints turn to God from innate righteousness. The rest of us tend to show up holding out a tin cup. The church I attended said it best on the banner stretched across it’s front: SINNERS WELCOME.
