There’s quite a bit happening in and around The Village Church at Vinings during the Advent/Christmas season! Here’s a basic schedule to mark you calendars. Write back if you’d like more information.
Dec. 1 (Thursday): Ken Boa, a brilliant local Bible teacher and scholar, and the teaching elder at Christ Church Anglican, will present a lecture on It’s a Wonderful Life in his “Faith in Film” series. This visual presentation will use clips and stills from the film to present relational, moral, and spiritual themes in this Christmas classic. Thursday, Dec. 1 at 6:30 at Peachtree Road UMC fellowship hall.
Dec. 4 (Sunday): Lunch for the SAY Yes! families at New Life Covenant Church at 12:30PM. Right after church this Sunday we’ll head down to English Ave and help serve a meal to all the SAY Yes! families. Contact Carlyn (email@example.com) if you’d like to help-out.
Dec. 11 (Sunday) – Dan and Shelly Owens are doing a living nativity at their house as an outreach to their neighborhood. If you’d like to help or if you’d like for your kids to be involved, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Dec. 18 (Sunday) – Village Kids will be singing carols and reading scriptures during the worship service. TIme to invite the grandparents!
Dec. 18 (Sunday) – Young Adult Christmas Party. Contact email@example.com
Dec. 21 (Wednesday) – VCV Youth Christmas Party at the home of Peter & Charlotte McNally from 7-10pm. Bring a white elephant gift. Dinner will be provided. Contact Carlyn at firstname.lastname@example.org for more info.
Dec. 24 (Saturday) – On Christmas Eve we’ll have a simple Nine Lessons and Carols service at Rod and Linda Gray’s home. Nine Lessons and Carols is a traditional, participatory Anglican service involving, as the name says, reading nine scripture passages and singing nine Christmas carols. Musicians from VCV as well as some special guests will be involved. This is a meaningful way to celebrate the coming Messiah! Children are welcome. More details coming soon.
Dec. 25 (Sunday) – We will have a simple worship service on Christmas morning! 10:30-11:30 sharp. The nursery will be open for parents to take fussy babies, but there will be no childcare and no children’s church for that morning. Normal childcare will resume the next Sunday.
