Community

God has created us to be relational beings. We need each other and we want to stop pretending that we don’t. The church is not a place, but a people — a community that is continually being reformed and renewed by the transforming power of the gospel.

A major way God grows and establishes his Family (the Church) is through OUR families. As parents, it’s a joy and a privilege to help our children learn and flourish in the Gospel. But it’s not easy! We are starting this Family Class because we want to help parents as they disciple their children. The class is designed for 4th-8th graders and their parents, but anyone is welcome to attend. Curt will be teaching, and this fall we’ll be discussing topics such as: What is the Church? – Why do we worship God the way we do? (Primer on Anglican Liturgy) – What are the Sacraments? – The Anglican Catechism.

Pastorate Groups

A Pastorate is a gathering of 15-25 people who meet every other Sunday evening. Along with Sunday worship, Pastorates are an essential part of life together at VCV.

Pastorate Groups provide an environment where we can build relationships with others in the church, and experience the fullness of New Testament Christian community – ministering to one another, and taking care of one another as we learn what Biblical Community (radical inclusivity) really is.

Pastorate meetings last about two hours, beginning each time with a meal, followed by a time of sharing needs and praying Evening Prayer together. Pastorate groups are open to the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, and they’re the hub of pastoral care and intercessory prayer for VCV. Childcare is provided on-site at Pastorate Groups.
