Hi Friends,
Here’s your weekly news update from The Village Church at Vinings:
-We’ll worship God together in Word and Sacrament this Sunday, the first Second after the Epiphany, at 10:30AM at Teasley Elementary. Justin and David will lead us in singing and Curt will lead our liturgy and begin a new preaching series on the book of Jonah. Jonah’s story is rich in the gospel, so this is a great opportunity to invite an unchurched friend!
-Pray for Jonathan as he travels to Singapore to preach (15 sermons in five days!) at a student conference.
-Youth Sunday School is on for this Sunday and will be meeting at Teasley rather than Panera!
-There are two new small groups starting this month!
One will be lead by Rod and Linda Gray and will meet in the library at Teasley at 9:00AM starting THIS Sunday, January 15. Their first curriculum will be The Gospel in Life by Tim Keller. To quote Rod and Linda, this will be targeted for “the older set” at VCV (50-somethings and up) but anyone is welcome! Contact linda at lindakgray@gmail.com if you have any questions.
The other will be targeted for Vinings/Smyrna/Mableton/Marietta residents. Our first meeting will be this Sunday, January 15, at William and Ashley Monk’s home. Contact Curt at curt@VillageChurchVinings.org for more info.
-The new member class will begin Sunday morning, January 22 at 9:15AM at Teasley. This is a four week course that covers our (short) history as a church, our core values of Gospel, Community and Mission, as well as our theological beliefs and Anglicanism. This class is a part of the membership process for all new prospective members. Contact Curt at Curt@VillageChurchVinigs.org for more info.
-Out friends at Young Life Africa are having an event in Atlanta, Feb 3-4. This is the first and only time that the entire Senior Africa Leadership Team has been in the US at the same time. We’d love for you to join us there and hear stories and fellowship with the African leaders at this historic event. Here’s the event website: http://ylafricaatlanta.eventbrite.com/
Here’s a thought for the week:
The love of God will always demand more of us than we want to give; and give more to us than we can hope or imagine. Every Christian has a Nineveh (a hard calling) and a Tarshish (escape route from God). Let’s just make sure we have Jesus.
-Scotty Smith-
We love y’all!
